AUCTION - AOR 2.42 - LSD Trips Festival Grateful Dead Ken Kesey 2-Sided 1966 Handbill - Longshoremens Hall - Excellent
Offered here is an incredibly rare and important 2-Sided concert handbill. This is the Trips Festival, a three-day event held at Longshoremen's Hall on January 21-23, 1966. Put on by Stewart Brand (Whole Earth Catalog) and everything was set up to overwhelm the senses with experimental films, slide projections, strobe lights, sculpture as well as several bands like the Grateful Dead, Big Brother & the Holding Co., the Loading Zone and others. Add in Ken Kesey & his Merry Pranksters and the Hell's Angels and you have a special life-changing event for many of more than 6000 people who attended during the weekend. And remember, LSD was still legal and was widely distributed on all three nights. Many feel that this was the event that propelled an entire psychedelic revolution. Design by Wes Wilson. Pictured in the Art of Rock book on page 116 plate 2.42. One side has the psychedelic pattern and the reverse has the 3 day listing (much more than mentioned above!). Measures 6 1/2" X 8 1/2".
In Excellent Condition with a couple of light stains at bottom and some light handling. A real gem.
